“You’re reading to much into this Sean.” Kevin Nash said, wanting off the phone with his long time lover, Sean Waltman. “I’m not sleeping with him. I’m just his mentor, the guy he looks up to. Besides he’s just a kid, why would I want some kid when I have you?” Kevin listened to the argument Sean was making, and had to agree with him. When they’d first gotten together, Sean was just a kid. A kid that was thirteen years younger than Kevin, but Kevin was younger then too. “I know what you’re saying, but there’s twenty four years difference between us! It was hard enough for people to get over the thirteen years that’s between us. Besides, we wouldn’t have anything in common anyway.” Kevin listened for a few more minutes, getting fed up with Sean quickly. “I can’t talk to you when you’re like this. I’ll call you tomorrow after you’ve had a chance to calm down and come to your senses.”

Kevin sat in his car, in the arena parking lot, for a few minutes, hoping he could fix this thing between him and Sean. They’d been together so long, Kevin wasn’t sure he knew anything or anyone else but Sean, and he’d never seen Sean this jealous before. He glanced down at his watch and noticed he still had a while before he was actually due at the arena. He got out of his car figuring he would have the whole place to himself, to do some much needed thinking.

Luckily for him, he still had pretty good reflexes. He was two steps away from his car, when another car pulled into the space right next to his like some kind of maniac, Ozzy’s Bark At The Moon blaring from the speakers. Kevin jumped out of the way, sending his bag crashing to the ground next to him. “Sorry Kev.” Alex Shelley said, getting out of his new Volkswagen Beetle and grabbing his gear out of the backseat. “I didn’t see you there. Nice reflexes though.”

Kevin picked up his bag, that had fallen to the ground, in his attempt to not become a hood ornament, and brushed it off. “Looks like you need good reflexes around here.” He said, slinging his bag over his shoulder. “Escpecially with maniacs like you around. You know, you might have seen me, if you’d been paying more attention to the road, and not the damn blaring music. You ever thought of turning that shit down?”

Alex trotted up next to Kevin, clapping him on the back. “Hey, if it’s too loud, you’re too old big man.” The two men begining to walk toward the arena.

“Well, I am too old for young punks like you.” Kevin said, opening the door and allowing Alex to walk through before he did. “By the way. What the hell are you doing listening to Ozzy Osborne? Isn’t Bark At The Moon a little before your time?”

Alex stopped in his tracks, set his bag down, and pulled something out of it. “Their called CD’s Kevin.” Alex said, holding one up like he was on The Price Is Right. “You see, you put these things in something called a CD player, and then music comes out of the speakers. It’s magic. Besides, I grew up listening to Ozzy’s stuff. You know, Bark At The Moon was recorded the year I was born.”

Kevin stood there, running his fingers through his short brown hair. “You sure know how to make a guy feel old. I was 24 when that album was released. Hell, that shows you how old I am. I still call ‘em albums.” Kevin said. “What the hell was TNA thinking when they hooked us up? I’m too old for you.”

“I wouldn’t say you’re too old for me.” Alex said, walking off and leaving Kevin there to ponder what he’d said for the moment. Was that a flirty tone in his voice? Was there an extra swagger in his hips when he walked away? It’d been so long since Kevin had been flirted with he couldn’t even recognize the signs anymore. “You gonna come teach me some moves? Or are ya just gonna stand there all day?” Alex said, just before he ducked into one of the tunnels that led to the ring.

Kevin started walking through the tunnel, and heard a very familiar noise. His old Diesel entrance music blasting through the arena. “Very funny.” He said, stepping out of the tunnel and noticing Alex sitting at the controls for the sound system. “That guy’s dead.” Kevin said, once Alex had turned it off. “Come on. I thought you wanted to learn some moves.”

Alex stood up, and headed toward the ring, perching himself on the top turnbuckle. Kevin slid into the ring with a grace that most big men only wished they possessed. Alex finally had to know. “Do you really think you’re that old?” Alex said, not moving from his current position.

Kevin almost fell down. There was such a caring tone in this kid’s voice, and maturity in his eyes that was unmatched by his youthful appearance. True to form, though, Kevin hid all emotion and just chuckled. “I was born in the fifties.” Kevin said, thinking of all the things that were wrong with his body. The bad knees, the chronic aches and pains, his heart, and that was just the inward things. That didn’t even skim the surface of his hair going grey, his body looking like he was about to drop a set of twins, and every wrinkle on his face that made him look a charpe puppy. At least to him they did.

“You were born in ‘59.” Alex said, sounding annoyed with his mentor for the first time. “Jesus, you didn’t even hit puberty until the seventies. You’re not that old. And if you are that old, I swear to god, I hope I look that good when I get that old.”

Kevin could have been knocked over with a feather. Did Alex just say he was good looking? After a few minutes of just standing there, like now he needed a hearing aid, Kevin couldn’t take it anymore. If there’s one thing he’d learned in this life, it was life was too short to waist time wondering about things. “What’s ya gettin’ at?” Kevin said, holding his breath waiting for Alex to answer. Just the thought that this kid could find him attractive was more than Kevin could have hoped for.

Alex sat there for so long, Kevin was about blue. Finally Alex gathered every ounce of bravery he could muster. “I’m saying you’re hot, and I think your boyfriend or husband or whatever the hell he is, is an asshole for cheatin’ on ya.” Alex said, not noticing Kevin’s reaction. “Where the hell else is he gonna find a guy as good as you? He went from a fuckin’ God like you, to some vampire freak that can’t even make it in the big time. Kevin, are you okay?” Alex said, jumping off the turnbuckle and rushing to Kevin’s side.

Kevin stood there, unable to feel anything. His entire body was numb from the news he’d just heard. The numb turned to rage in a matter of seconds. “Where the hell did you hear something like that?” Kevin said, backing Alex into a corner with his hand loosely around the young man’s neck. “You better not be making all this up so help me God, I’ll fuck you up kid.”

Alex couldn’t believe how this was turning out. He’d definitely had a whole other scenario pictured in his head. “Brian and Kip told me.” Alex said, not really fearing for his life, but more his health.

“Why would they tell you something like that?” Kevin said, adding a little more pressure to the kid’s neck.

“I was asking them if you were single.” Alex said, willing to tell the big man anything to get his hand off his throat. Even if that meant spilling the whole truth. “I’ve wanted you for a long time. I went to them to see if you were single and they just told me about Sean and Vampiro and the weekend they spent in Mexico. He called and told Brian all about it.”

Kevin let go of Alex, the numb starting to take over again. The mention of their names and a specific event that Kevin could remember, were taking their tole on him. He remembered that weekend Sean was gone. He said, he’d be up at his parent’s house. Kevin should have known something was going on right then. Sean’s parents hated Kevin, and Sean knew he wouldn’t call there if his life depended on it. The numb started to wear off and the pain set in. His leg’s couldn’t even hold him up anymore. He dropped to his knees in front of Alex, pinning the young man in the corner. The tears fell from Kevin’s eyes freely. He didn’t care who saw him.

Alex wasn’t sure what to do. He’d laid in bed on many a night and pictured what life would be like with Kevin, and never once did he ever picture the big man crying. “It’s alright.” Alex said, placing his hands on Kevin’s head hoping to calm him. All he achieved was making it look like Kevin was giving him head. “If he doesn’t understand how wonderful you are, then it’s his loss.” Alex said, managing to get on his knees in front of Kevin. Alex was at a loss for words. He’d caused this pain, and couldn’t believe he could hurt Kevin like this. “I’m so sorry baby.”

“Tell me again how I’m not that old.” Kevin said, looking into Alex’s eyes, tears streaming from his own.

It was all Alex could do not to break down. “Look at it this way.” Alex said, in vainly trying to dry Kevin’s tears. “When you’re over all this, you’re gonna have someone that loves you more than words can say. I know I’m shorter than him, and I’m a little heavier, and people tell me my hair makes me look like Cruella Deville, but all in all I think I’m better looking. And at least I have some muscle tone.”

Kevin chuckled in spite of the fact that he felt like his life was over. “What the fuck are you talking about?” He said, pushing Alex away as much as he could. “I couldn’t keep ahold of someone thirteen years younger than me. What the hell makes you think I could hold onto someone twenty four years younger?”

“Because.” Alex said, placing his hands on Kevin’s face to make sure he had eye contact. “The difference between me and X-Punk is, he wants the Kevin Nash of fourteen years ago. That’s the Kevin he fell in love with and that’s the Kevin he wants. Me? I fell in love with you. I love Diesel. I love that damn wrestling Elvis shit you did. I love the Kevin that has bad knees, aches and pains, gray hair, and those distinguished laugh lines around his eyes. That’s the Kevin I fell in love with. And when this is all said and done, and we’re a couple, we’re gonna rub it in that freaks face. I want him to see what he’s lost. Hell, I want him to try and get you back, just so he can go through this kind of hell when you turn him down.”

Kevin looked into Alex’s eye for a few minutes, actually feeling his troubles start to melt away. “You kinda do look like Cruella Deville.” Kevin said, knowing would be a while before he was ready for another serious relationship, and he just prayed that Alex would wait for him.
