Hunter paced back and forth on the white tiled floor in the hospital room. Once in a while he stopped to stare at Billy who was seated next to Jesse’s sleeping form. Holding his hand tightly in his.

Billy had been told by the nurses to stay in his own bed. Not to put too much pressure on his leg. But Billy didn’t care what anyone told him. He just wanted to be there for Jesse when he returned to consciousness.

At first when Billy had woken up in the hospital bed he had desperately been asking where Jesse was, afraid he had lost him. When he had been told he was in another room, still sleeping then he had instantly struggled to get out of the bed.

Nurses had kept him in bed and when they left he had taken the chance and went to Jesse.

Billy was scared when he saw that Jesse had been unconscious, not knowing what had happened after he had passed out the day before. When Scott had viciously assaulted them!

Hunter had been there with Jesse when Billy entered the room. He told him that apparently Jesse had passed out only minutes before the paramedics had arrived to the building.

Hunter was lucky. He had gotten away without a scratch! But Billy didn’t care right now. He just wanted Jesse to be alright! He didn’t know when he would wake up. The doctor had said he had a concussion and that he might not wake up until tomorrow. But Billy was still hoping, which was the reason why he was still sitting by Jesse’s side instead of resting.

Hunter sighed and stopped right behind Billy, putting his hands soothingly on Billy’s shoulders. “Maybe you should get some sleep. I’ll stay here and watch him…” his voice was coated with concern. Billy only shook his head, refusing to leave. “I wanna stay. I want to be here when he wakes up!”

Hunter nodded, understanding. “I know, but… you don’t know if he’ll wake up today…” he tried, but Billy was stubborn and stayed where he was.

“I’m gonna get some coffee… you want some?” he then asked, heading towards the door. Billy didn’t say a word. Hunter took that as a ‘no’. He carefully closed the door behind him.

Closing his eyes, Billy inhaled deeply. He was tired, yes, but he didn’t want to leave Jesse ever again! He didn’t want him to be hurt.

Yawning, he bent to rest his forehead on the mattress, clutching Jesse’s hand tightly. He shifted in the chair, his elbow accidentally brushing over his injured thigh. He jerked slightly, a quiet whimper slipping from his lips. “Damn…” he forced out.

Feeling a light pressure around his fingers, he quickly raised his head, looking down on his and Jesse’s hand. He smiled brightly, noticing Jesse’s fingers moving. He felt him gently squeeze his hand. He then looked at Jesse’s face. He was slowly beginning to wake up!

“Jesse…?” he gently asked as he saw him open his eyes. Blinking, Jesse adjusted his vision to the brightness in the room. He had a pounding headache. He winced slightly as he turned to look at Billy. “Billy…? Are you ok?” he reached out to touch Billy’s face. Billy took his hand in his, nuzzling it. “I’m ok, baby…” a stray tear escaped his eye.

Jesse smiled faintly, nodding. “That’s great…” Billy smiled again, gently brushing his lips over his hand.

“Jesse? I wanna tell you something…” Billy stated. Jesse looked expectantly at him. “While I was here. Watching you, I realized how much you mean to me.” He tightened his grip around Jesse’s hand and then continued, “I realized how much I love you. I don’t wanna lose you. I was so scared I had lost you!”

“Oh, Billy…” Tears formed in the corner of his eyes. He carefully pushed himself up and embraced Billy tightly. “I love you, Jesse…” he sniffled, trying to force the tears back. “I love you too!”

They sat wrapped in each other’s arms, not speaking or moving for several minutes. Their eyes closed, just listening to one another’s soft breathing.

Something hard cracked against the back of Billy’s skull causing him to collapse unconscious onto the floor. Jesse yelped in fear, instinctively jumping out of the bed, nearly tripping in the sheets as he tried to get away from the person before him.

It was Scott… he had returned… and he was there right now! Jesse could feel his body beginning to lightly quiver. He gazed down at the form of Billy and then returned his gaze at Scott. He was smiling. A smile which reminded Jesse about those psychopaths you see on TV.

Slowly, Jesse backed up against the cold wall, his eyes huge. He felt panic rise up in him, not knowing what to do. His head was pounding, his mind clouded.

Scott came closer, one step at a time. Jesse was trapped in the corner and he figured the only way to get away would be to defend himself. He tried his best and gave his best punch, connecting his knuckles with Scott’s jaw, sending him onto his back on the hard surface of the floor.

Scott rubbed his sore jaw, laughing lightly. He was indeed impressed!

Running towards Billy, Jesse thought he would might be able to escape together with Billy. However Scott caught his leg, bringing him to the floor and then crawled over him, grabbing his braids. He yanked his head back and then forcefully knocked his forehead down on the floor.

Jesse whimpered harshly, feeling his eyebrow being torn apart.

Scott reached out towards the wall, searching for something specific, still holding Jesse’s face pressed against the floor. He smiled when he found just what he needed. Cords.

He spun Jesse around, watching the dazed younger man as he yanked his head forward and began winding the cords around his neck. He straddled his hips to keep him secure against the floor, tightening the cords.

He closed his eyes as he felt Jesse writhe and struggle under him, listening to his hitched gasps. He could feel his fingers desperately trying to hold on to something to be able to push Scott off him. He was unable to find anything though.

He closed his eyes, his lips parted as he struggled for breath. “Come on, Jesse! Just let go!” he panted harshly, pulling the cords forcefully.

Just as Jesse was on the brink of losing consciousness, Scott’s head snapped up. Billy! The bastard was awake and was fighting to get back on his feet. Scott was forced to let go and he was gone just as fast as he had arrived.

Jesse kept gasping for breath, frantically trying to loosen the cords. Billy was quick to emerge by Jesse’s side and began removing the cords from his neck.

Coughing and barely able to breathe, Jesse rolled onto his side. Billy instantly pulled him into his embrace, holding him as he started breathing again. Tears were staining the younger man’s face as he dizzily glanced up at Billy. Small droplets of water trickled from his eyes too.

“What the hell happened here?!” Hunter exclaimed in obvious shock when he returned to the room, dropping his coffee onto the floor. He ran towards the two persons wrapped in each other’s arms in the far end of the room and then kneeled down in front of them.

“What happened?” he repeated. Billy hesitated for a second then answered, “It was Scott… He was here!” he stroked his thumb over Jesse’s cheekbone. “Scott?! Oh my God!” Hunter’s shoulders slumped down as he stared at Jesse, noticing the bruises already decorating Jesse’s neck.

“How did he know we were here?” Billy murmured to himself. Raising his gaze, he stared at Hunter who was in complete shock and confusion. He shrugged his shoulders. “I’m gonna get some nurses…” he then rushed out of the room.

“How did he know?” Billy whispered to himself, clutching Jesse close to his body.
